Preparing for a warehouse site interview in Germany
Many logistics employers in Germany invite shortlisted candidates to the site rather than only to a glass-walled meeting room. You may walk the floor, answer questions about PPE, or describe how you would handle a damaged pallet blocking a lane.
Ask in advance whether you should bring safety shoes. Arrive with time to pass reception and any visitor badge process. Dress for a working site, not a boardroom: clean, practical clothing that can move through a cold storage area if needed.
Practice three operational stories: one about catching an inventory discrepancy, one about working through a peak week, and one about raising a safety concern. Keep each story under two minutes and end with what changed afterward.
Interviewers often ask how you communicate with temporary staff or night-shift colleagues. Be ready with a real method — handover notes, radio checks, or a whiteboard routine — rather than a general claim that you communicate well.
If German is not your strongest language, prepare key phrases for safety and process questions, and be honest about the language level you can work in. Employers prefer clarity about which shift briefings you can follow over an overstated claim.
